Sections 1, 2, 10 to 30, 42 to 44, 46, 47, 50 to 58, 61, and 62 of the Act, passed in Parliament last December, will come into force from Wednesday, except for readability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/highlawgroup.co.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Screenshot-2024-06-27-012542.png\" alt=\"This is a phone networking tower.The Telecom Act was passed by both Houses during the Winter Session in December last year\n\" class=\"wp-image-723\" style=\"width:418px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-8ead32af2d76954c70998aa59c77e826 wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0These segments aim to establish a robust legal support. And it received presidential assent the same month. The new law provides clarity on definitions and legal which reduce frameworks, uncertainty.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-d351574d939d2325531e38cc8a1a5585 wp-block-paragraph\">Consumers can potentially benefit from improved network coverage due to easier infrastructure installation enabled by right of way rules. The Universal Service Obligation Fund will drive service improvement in underserve area. Providing better protection from spam and implementing a system to address public grievances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-9db25468f9e53b41bf3c39fba0df4d5e wp-block-paragraph\">The 39 sections that come into effect on 26 June include definitions that provide clarity to industry. The same section allows the Centre or states to take temporary possession of any telecom service or network during a public emergency , including disaster management , or in the interest of&nbsp;public&nbsp;safety&nbsp;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-d66ce864aba98f5b0ee3e0fd50a4ad02 wp-block-paragraph\">Telecom services may be suspend, and temporary possession of infrastructure can occur during public&nbsp;emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-b87169f4b464b82c637676695fa40d22 wp-block-paragraph\">Rules related to standards for telecom security and innovation. Public safety measures and expanding the Universal Service Obligation Fund meant to bring connectivity to areas lacking network coverage will also come into effect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-5ee0a19427da73320cda54f12991f5d1 wp-block-paragraph\">The government will create infrastructure in rural and remote telecom areas of the country using funds gathered through the universal service levy imposed on telecom service operators. This fund will be known as Digital Bharat Nidhi under sections 24 to 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-e705c301ffd5f710aa5815e22ab150ba wp-block-paragraph\">If a telecom company sends commercial messages without the user&#8217;s consent. Authorities will fine the company up to 2 lakh rupees and may also ban it from providing services. Additionally, the government will implement an online dispute resolution framework for grievance redressal and consumer protection measures from spam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-65778f4baec14b942913b96c388a3339 wp-block-paragraph\">Section 28 of the Act also cracks down on spam . Getting prior consent from subscribers to receive advertising messages.  And establishing Do Not Disturb registers have been make mandatory&nbsp;for&nbsp;operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-95d876f503ecbb02bce12f5689410f82 wp-block-paragraph\">The new provisions in the Telecommunications Act 2023, including restrictions on the number of SIM cards an individual can use at a time, will come into effect on June 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-white-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-92b9c5f9def40bfd4fa30c0482d4cce7 wp-block-paragraph\"> According to the notification issued by the Central government in this regard.
